3 Days Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech. The tour travels through the High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll encounter winding roads, traditional Berber villages, and incredible panoramic views. The journey takes you through Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of the highest points in the Atlas, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountain peaks.

On the way to Dades Valley, you’ll have the opportunity to stop and explore Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient kasbahs. The kasbah is a beautiful example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture, often featured in Hollywood films. Continuing your journey, you’ll pass through Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” and then proceed to Skoura and the Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the night at a local riad or hotel. The valley’s dramatic landscapes and tranquil atmosphere make it an ideal place to rest after a long drive.

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll continue your journey towards Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Along the way, you’ll pass through the charming town of Tinghir and visit Todgha Gorge, a stunning natural wonder with towering cliffs that rise up to 300 meters. This is a perfect spot for a short hike or to take in the striking views.

As you continue eastward, you’ll reach Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and desert landscapes. From here, you’ll head towards Merzouga, where you’ll prepare for your Sahara Desert adventure. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you’ll meet your camel caravan and begin your camel trek into the desert.

Riding camels through the Erg Chebbi dunes, you’ll experience the vast, serene beauty of the desert landscape. After an hour or two of riding, you’ll arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll spend the night in traditional Berber tents. The camp is equipped with comfortable bedding, and you’ll enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, followed by a night of stargazing and traditional music around a campfire. After waking up early to watch the desert sunrise, you’ll enjoy a camel ride back to Merzouga, where you’ll have breakfast at a local hotel. From here, your journey to Fes begins. On the way back, you’ll drive through some of Morocco’s most scenic landscapes, including the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis dotted with palm trees and fortified kasbahs. The route also takes you through Midelt, a town known for its apples and beautiful cedar forests.

Continuing north, you’ll pass through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping at Ifrane, often referred to as “Little Switzerland” due to its alpine architecture and cool climate. As you drive through this picturesque region, you’ll witness a dramatic shift in landscape from the desert to lush greenery. Finally, you’ll arrive in Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital, where the tour concludes.
