2 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech

The journey begins with an early departure from Marrakech, where you will head east toward the desert. As you travel through the Atlas Mountains, you’ll pass through picturesque Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which offers breathtaking views of the mountain range and remote Berber villages. During this part of the journey, you’ll experience the contrast of the rugged mountain landscape with the lush green valleys.

On your way, you’ll make several stops to take in the scenery and explore historic sites, such as the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its appearances in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. A visit to Ouarzazate is also on the agenda, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” where you’ll experience the desert’s edge before continuing further east.

In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Merzouga, the starting point of your desert adventure. After a welcome drink and some time to relax, you’ll ride camels into the Erg Chebbi Dunes for a truly unforgettable experience. As the sun sets over the dunes, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the shifting colors of the sand as it transforms into a golden hue.

Once you reach your desert camp, a traditional Moroccan dinner will be served, followed by a night under the stars. The desert sky is absolutely spectacular, offering an opportunity to gaze at countless stars in the vast, open sky, far from city lights.

Your second day begins early with a sunrise over the dunes – an experience that’s truly magical. As the sun rises above the desert, you’ll see the sand dunes come to life in a warm glow. After the sunrise, you’ll return to your camp by camel, where a hearty breakfast awaits.

After breakfast, you’ll start the journey back to Marrakech. This time, the route will take you through different landscapes, giving you a fresh perspective on the diverse terrain. You’ll pass through small villages like Rissani, known for its traditional markets and architecture, before continuing toward the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis surrounded by palm trees.

On your return trip, you’ll make another stop at Valley of the Roses, famous for its stunning views and the production of rose water, before finally arriving in Marrakech in the evening.
